McAlister Arts is thrilled to welcome virtuoso cellist Robert deMaine to its roster of acclaimed artists and speakers. A prominent solo artist hailed by The New York Times as “…a musician who makes one hang on every note,” deMaine was appointed principal cello of the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 2013, after serving for over a decade as principal cello of the Detroit Symphony.

A committed chamber musician, Robert has collaborated with members of the legendary Beaux Arts Trio as well as the Emerson, Juilliard, Kronos, and Cleveland string quartets, among others. He is a member of the newly formed Dicterow-deMaine-Biegel Trio as well as the Ehnes String Quartet.

As a solo artist with an astonishingly extensive repertoire, Robert has performed nearly all the major cello concertos (and some obscure ones) with orchestras throughout the world. His recording of the John Williams Cello Concerto (with the Detroit Symphony, Leonard Slatkin conducting) will be released by Naxos later this year. In August 2014 he will make his Los Angeles Philharmonic concerto debut in a performance of Brahms’ Double Concerto alongside celebrated violinist Hilary Hahn.

Robert deMaine is represented as a solo artist by McAlister Arts LLC.
